Community Health Fund

The Ontario Ministry of Health would like to support a variety of programs designed to prevent illness and disease. This fund is designed to target provincial level programs that support the province as a whole in respect to prevention of chronic illness and health initiatives. This is a Provincial level grant.

Grant Description

This grant is intended to support provincial multi-risk factor initiatives to prevent chronic disease and injuries. Provincial projects encompass the province as a whole, with an impact expanding across all four ministry regions; North, Central, East, and West.

Specifics and Requirements

Collaborative projects, where Two or more organizations are committed to working in partnership to achieve common goals. Eligible organizations include not-for-profit (incorporated), First Nations, and Incorporated Aboriginal organizations.

Initiatives must address at least two of the following criteria; Physical activity/sport and recreation, Healthy Eating, Injury Prevention, Substance/Alcohol Abuse, Tobacco use/exposure, Mental Health.

Interested applicants must submit a Statement of Interest (template available online) and will be contacted to discuss the project further.

Funding Amount

Up to 60 percent of the total cost of the eligible project may be awarded.

Sport Commission In the Community




On March 2nd and 3rd the Niagara Sport Commission hosted a Fundamental Movement Skills Workshop at Eastdale Secondary in Welland. The workshop helped to certify 10 high school students as community coaches. The NSC would like to thank the Coach's Association of Ontario for helping to arrange this workshop. The students are a part of an NSC Community Engagement Project tying physical activity and leadership to the development of a healthy Niagara.
